Stray dog that attended lectures is killed by university officials

China – Chinese students are furious after university officials killed a dog which had become a campus mascot after it started attending lectures.
Casper the dog would regularly sit in on English and calculus at the Northwest A&F University in Yanglin County in the city of Xi’an, in north-western China’s Shaanxi province.
The story of Casper began to circulate in local media and on social networks, however university officials did not appreciate the attention, and poisoned the dog.
University officials have been accused of having Casper killed as his presence during lectures was damaging its reputation as one of the top universities in China.  More

The bus that runs on poop

UK – The first ever bus powered by food waste and human poo has gone into service between Bristol and Bath.
The 40-seater Bio-Bus runs on gas generated through the treatment of sewage and food waste and engineers believe it could provide a sustainable way of fuelling public transport and cutting emissions in polluted towns and cities.
Running on waste products that are both renewable and sustainable, the bus can travel up to 300km on a full tank of gas generated at Bristol sewage treatment works, which is run by GENeco, a subsidiary of Wessex Water.
Bath Bus Company, which is operating the service, said the bus was greener for the environment and added that it was extremely pleased to be using the Bio-Bus for its rapidly growing A4 service from Bath to Bristol Airport.  More

Subway murder suspect had struck underground before

New York – The man who pushed a Bronx father to his death in front of subway train knocked another man — an Asian, like the first victim — off his feet on a West Village platform just 10 days earlier, law-enforcement sources said.
Kevin Darden (picture) — who was arrested outside his mother’s house in The Bronx Tuesday — assaulted the first man because he dared to walk in front of him, the sources said.
“I’m warning you!’’ Darden, 34, barked at the victim after shoving him to the ground at the West 4th Street station at around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, the man told cops.
The victim, 51, came forward Tuesday after seeing a surveillance photo of Darden that cops released following the fatal shove of Wai Kuen Kwok, 61, in The Bronx Sunday, sources said.  More

Mass murderer Charles Manson has gotten a license to marry a 26-year-old woman

CORCORAN, California – Mass murderer Charles Manson has gotten a license to marry a 26-year-old woman who visits him in prison.
The Kings County marriage license, viewed Monday by The Associated Press, was issued Nov. 7 for the 80-year-old Manson and Afton Elaine Burton, who left her Midwestern home nine years ago and moved to Corcoran, California — the site of the prison — to be near Manson. She maintains several websites advocating Manson’s innocence.
The license does not specify a wedding date and indicates the couple has 90 days to get married or they will have to reapply.
Burton, who goes by the name “Star,” told the AP that she and Manson will be married next month.  More

Man Takes Ball Away From Woman at New Orleans Saints Game

NEW ORLEANS – With prime seats in section 130 of the Superdome, both Tony Williams and Christa Barrett had their eyes on getting a football after a celebration.
Barrett, saw her chance mid-way through the third quarter when Andy Dalton rolled out and hit Jermaine Gresham for a one-yard touchdown. Seven rows up, Barrett and her sister Cara Meadows ran down the aisle to celebrate with Gresham.
“As soon as that happened, we ran down,” Barrett said. “Gresham saw us and threw the ball to us.”
That’s when Williams made a tight end-like move himself, stepping in front of her and picking off Gresham’s pass while throwing his elbow into Barrett’s face.  More   Watch video at Nutty News Videos

Student wins suit to make parents pay for school

New Jersey – Another New Jersey kid has sued her parents to make them pay for school — and she’s won.
The parents of 21-year-old Caitlyn Ricci have been ordered to pay $16,000 for her tuition at Temple University, even though she hasn’t lived with them for two years and doesn’t talk to them, according to NJ.com.
A judge cited a 1982 landmark case, in which the state Supreme Court ruled divorced parents are responsible for providing for their child’s education.
The parents say it’s unfair, since the Washington Township student has moved out of her mom’s home and in with her grandma, who funded her suit.  More
