Lawyer Suspended For Five Years For Taking Money and Doing Nothing


PORTLAND OR -A Skowhegan lawyer has been suspended from practicing law for five years, after accepting more then $14,000 from a client and doing nothing in return.

Her client is 54-year-old Floyd Burton Jr., who was convicted of attempted murder and arson after a house fire in 1996. His mother, Hattie Burton of Monson, paid more than $14,00 to Danisinka-Washburn to appeal the convictions. But the appeal was dismissed when the attorney failed to meet court deadlines.
