Man runs over girlfriend's mother - She hopes he will not be her son-in-law someday

A drunken driver plowed into his girlfriend's mother after an argument at a family graduation party in West Islip Sunday, leaving her seriously injured, police said. Kenneth Gonzalez, of 32 Middle Island Ave. in Medford, was arrested early Sunday and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said. Gonzalez, 30, was arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip, police said, and was ordered held on $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond. Denise Stark, 49, of 838 Ocean Ave., West Islip, suffered three broken bones in her neck, as well as a fractured clavicle and pelvis, according to family members. Stark awaited surgery in the emergency unit of Stony Brook University Medical Center yesterday afternoon, her legs bruised and her body connected to machines. Her husband, James T. Stark, who stood at her bedside, declined to comment, saying only that the accident was a "family matter." Full Story - Blades
