Weird: 'IDOL' HOPES TO RIDE CRUEL, MEAN STREAK


USA - Apparently there's never been a crueler edition of "American Idol."
Despite jabs last year from critics and fans that the talent show's judges, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, were too mean to vocally challenged - and even overweight - contestants, the vitriol will flow freely when "Idol's" seventh season begins tonight.
