California - A Santa Rosa pilot and his son had a lucky escape after their tandem seat plane hit power lines, flew under a bridge and landed on a Russian River sandbar near Duncan Mills on Friday afternoon.
"Very lucky is the word," said Monte Rio Fire Chief Steve Baxman, who witnessed the plane fly very low along the river, striking several high voltage wires and dragging the lines as it continued west.
