Australia - A man who claimed he was affected by the bite of a funnel web spider when he kidnapped, drugged and raped a teenager was today handed an extra four years in jail. Phillip Ronald Spiers abducted the 18-year-old checkout operator outside a Maitland supermarket in 1997, pushing her into his car boot. He threatened her with a knife, drugged her and bound her with duct tape before raping and robbing her.
