Uncle Big Bird - Sleepwalking blamed for child molestation


FLEMINGTON - A man accused of sexually molesting a young girl while she was asleep in her family's basement will argue that he unknowingly molested the victim while he, too, was sleeping, his lawyer told a jury at the Hunterdon County Courthouse yesterday. Attorney Lawrence West, during opening arguments in the trial of Michael A. Parlin, said his client suffers from an untreated sleep disorder, similar to sleepwalking. Parlin, a 6 foot-2-inch friend of the girl's family and whom the girl called "Uncle Big Bird," took advantage of her, and didn't count on her waking up, said Assistant Prosecutor Dawn Solari. More...
