Former Skydiving Champ Dies in Jump when Parachute Fails to Open


California - Richard Alvin Schindler, a 39-year-old off-duty Riverside County sheriff’s deputy, died on Saturday after his parachute failed to deploy during a skydiving jump at Lake Elsinore in Riverside County, CA. Schindler had a back-up shoot but there was no evidence that it had been deployed.
