Woman dies after eating wild mushrooms at Interstate rest area


BEDFORD - A 61-year-old White Plains woman who ate white mushrooms she found growing wild at the Interstate 684 rest stop died in the hospital, the Westchester County Health Department confirmed this morning. Zoila Tapia died on Thursday, four days after eating the pure white mushrooms known as death angels. Poisoning symptoms include vomiting, severe abdominal pain, internal bleeding, kidney failure, and eventually death. More...
