Texas - State District Judge Alan Mayfield accepted a 15-year plea deal Monday for a 13-year-old Waco boy charged with murder. The action came two weeks after Mayfield rejected a 10-year plea agreement. The boy will be eligible for parole in three years, said Mayfield, of Waco’s 74th State District Court. The judge said he rejected the original plea as too lenient. Mayfield said even Monday’s sentence was a good deal for the boy and said at least part of the reason he was willing to grant it is because he thinks the boy has a good chance to change. More...
