SALT LAKE CITY - A group of paleontologists says a supposed "dinosaur dance floor" in Arizona is a collection of unusual potholes, not dinosaur tracks. The University of Utah announced the dispute Friday. Marjorie Chan, head of the geology and geophysics department, was the lead author of a paper that described the site in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument as a dinosaur "trample surface" with the tracks of a number of species. Four scientists hiked in to the site Oct. 30, eight days after Chan's paper was published. They said they found dinosaur tracks on the way in but not at the site. More...
