‘Want to be’ firefighter held in arson attempt


Pennsylvania - Mark Gilliam, 19, of West Chester, described as a "want to be" firefighter, was ordered held without bail this afternoon for allegedly trying to set fire to a restaurant in the Coatesville area, terrorized by a rash of arsons during the last two years.
At an arraignment that came the day after Roger Leon Barlow Jr., 19, of Downingtown, was charged with setting nine of 24 fires since Jan. 1, Gilliam was ordered to appear next Friday before U.S. District Judge Carol Wells.
