Washington - The FDA wants General Mills to reel back its claim that Cheerios can "lower your cholesterol 4 percent in 6 weeks." Such a claim is not backed up by science, according to a letter sent to the company by FDA chief Ken Powell. Powell says that General Mills is making claims for its cereal that more properly, and according to federal law, should apply only to drugs designed to cure disease.
