Wealthy Hamptons couple ‘kept Indonesian woman as a slave’

A wealthy couple have been accused of keeping an Indonesian woman as a near-slave, trapping her at their Hamptons home and forcing her to endure harsh working conditions.

Rose and Lawrence Halsey, of Water Mill, are being sued by Ni Ketut Sulastri, from Bali, for allegedly forcing her to live a life of long working hours with poor pay between 2005 and 2008.

The suit, obtained by theNew York Post, says the Hasleys hired Ms Sulastri to work at their home on Halsey Lane through an Indonesian intermediary.

She was forced to live in a closet and was fed only leftovers and hot dogs.

She said there was no air conditioning in her room so she was forced to endure conditions of stifling heat or bitter cold.   Click here to read more Nutty News Stories at Nutty News Today - new stories added all day every day
