Going back in time - Massachusetts considers cowbells as truck alert


BOSTON MA - Massachusetts plans to revive an old-fashioned solution to the problem of truckers who ignore “low clearance” signs -- chains of cowbells. The trucks are a major problem on Storrow Drive and Memorial Drive, parkways that flank the Charles River in Boston and Cambridge. In the 1980s, cowbells were hung across the highways to give truckers an audible warning in time to stop before hitting overpasses.
