Rare Chinese tiger found


XI'AN, China - An endangered tiger species has been confirmed in the wild in China after not being seen for two decades. The South China Tiger, or Penthern tiger, was listed as one of 10 highly endangered species in 1996 by the International Natural Conservation Alliance. An investigation into the tiger's existence was launched last year after farmers in the Qinling Mountains of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province reported seeing the tigers near their villages, China Daily reported Saturday.
