Cop who fell asleep given chance to keep his job - Says was disabled - Had sleep apnea


Texas - In Poteet's response to a lawsuit by a former police officer claiming he was fired because of a disability, the city states he was given every opportunity to keep his job.
Former Patrolman Justin Sadler claims in the lawsuit that he was fired when his medical condition — sleep apnea, diagnosed in 2006 — was mistaken for sleeping while on duty. Sleep apnea is a condition characterized by repeated interrupted breathing during sleep. Prolonged cases can make a person tired and sometimes make him or her fall asleep when they don't mean to.
