Teacher who told student to "go back to Africa" may be suspended by state


Florida - If a teacher told a black student to go back to Africa, what would be fair punishment? The state Department of Education is recommending a one-year suspension of a teaching certificate in just such a case, involving a Pinellas middle school teacher.
According to this administrative complaint, Mark Krieger reportedly became angry when a student failed to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Krieger told the student he was in a free country and should respect it, and that if the student didn't he should go back to Africa, the complaint alleges. More...
