Man hits Dad in the head with a hammer in hopes of putting him in nursing home


Foster City - A Foster City man is being held for allegedly hitting his father in the head with a hammer because he mistakenly thought the 81-year-old man had to be hospitalized before he could be admitted to a nursing home, prosecutors said today.
Jayantibhai Patel, 57, is being held on $500,000 bail, despite requests from Patel's father and other relatives that he be released.
