UK - A BRITISH smoker who sparked up in protest over what was on TV in his local pub has learned his lesson after the riot squad arrived. John Vaughan was watching the last 10 minutes of a cricket match at his local pub in Warwickshire last month when someone switched it over to the football, the Daily Mail reported. Mr Vaughan told the newspaper that after his pleas with bar staff went unheeded, he decided to defy the pub’s smoking ban. After refusing to put out the cigarette, the bar staff hit the “panic button”, and the riot squad marched in a few minutes later.
