Italy - More than 10 tonnes of rotting or out-of-date cheese from European dairies was mixed with fresh products and resold, according to an Italian police investigation reported by newspaper La Repubblica today. Instead of destroying the cheese, about 40 Italian, British, German and Austrian firms reworked it using four companies headed by a Sicilian businessman.
